The Professional Competency Assessment and accompanying portfolio is the culminating assignment of the Bowling Green State University Master’s program in College Student Personnel.  It is based on students’ completion of the ACPA and NASPA professional competencies expected of student affairs professionals.  These are:

 

• Advising and Helping

• Assessment, Evaluation, and Research

• Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

• Ethical Professional Practice

• History, Philosophy, and Values

• Human and Organizational Resources

• Law, Policy, and Governance

• Leadership

• Personal Foundations

• Student Learning and Development

 

In order to complete the portfolio, students are required to evaluate themselves in each competency area at either the acceptable, proficient, or exemplary level.  In the following assessments, I have reflected upon my experiences and coursework to determine my level of competency in each of these areas.  For each competency, I will provide examples and, in some cases, artifacts, to demonstrate my learning and achievements.
